Wisdom, knowledge and discernment are all important parts of true Christian faith. If anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask the Lord, who will give generously to all without reproach

So we read and understand from the Holy Bible. Education is the most essential component in nation building, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.

Mar Thoma Church, Chembur started it’s education outreach in the year 1982 to support the needs of children in the vicinity of the church , who did not have access to formal education. The Parish remains indebted to Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas (then Rev. Joseph Jacob, then parish vicar) for seeding this thought and making it a reality. We also acknowledge the valuable contributions made by successive vicars of the parish in ensuring that Mar Thoma School, Maharashtra grows from strength to strength over a period of time.

This education outreach that started off with a KG class of 12 students conducted in the stilt area of the then church building has today transformed into a full-fledged education institution with over 1700 students up to Class X accredited by the state board of Maharashtra. Almost all of the students belong to communities that are economically not well off. Without any compromise in the quality of education, the fees structure has been kept at an affordable level. Scholarships and waiver of fees is provided for all those who cannot afford it. The school lays a lot of importance on character building and creation of the right attitude in young minds. Sports and extra-curricular activities remain as much important as classroom lessons.

The academic activities of the school are undertaken by a team of ~40 teachers under the guidance of the Principal Mrs. Pratibha B. Doble. This team of dedicated teaching staff ensures that all students are nurtured well. Those requiring special attention are supported through remedial classes. The school could record a 100% success in the SSC board examination during the academic year 2019-20. Many of the school alumni are successful in their life and career due to the foundations laid in their early life.

There is a Governing Council consisting of 11 members of Chembur Parish who take critical administrative and strategic decisions from time to time and support the growth of the school. The school management is presently led by Rev. Genil Abraham as the Manager of the school.
